About Department
B.Tech (Artificial Intelligence and Data Science) is a four-year full time undergraduate programme started in the academic year 2020–21, equipping students with the skills to perform intelligent data analysis and imparting knowledge of advanced innovations like artificial intelligence, data science, machine learning, deep learning and natural language processing.
Artificial Intelligence and Data Science is one of the emerging areas out of 10 special categories identified by AICTE and MHRD which can meet the upcoming requirements of the Industrial Revolution. The industries and businesses all over the world have been undertaking massive projects to radically modify their enterprise software systems by integrating Artificial Intelligence techniques coupled with Data Analytics.

- Mrs. V. Sankari has successfully completed the Java Certification from Infosys Springboard.
- Most of the faculty members have successfully completed the UHV-I and UHV-II programs conducted by AICTE.

Program Outcomes (POs)
Engineering Graduates will be able to:
- PO1: Engineering knowledge: Apply knowledge of mathematics, natural science, computing, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization as specified in WK1 to WK4 respectively to develop to the solution of complex engineering problems.
- PO2: Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions with consideration for sustainable development. (WK1 to WK4)
- PO3: Design/Development of Solutions: Design creative solutions for complex engineering problems and design/develop systems/components/processes to meet identified needs with consideration for the public health and safety, whole-life cost, net zero carbon, culture, society and environment as required. (WK5)
- PO4: Conduct Investigations of Complex Problems: Conduct investigations of complex engineering problems using research-based knowledge including design of experiments, modelling, analysis & interpretation of data to provide valid conclusions. (WK8).
- PO5: Engineering Tool Usage: Create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources and modern engineering & IT tools, including prediction and modelling recognizing their limitations to solve complex engineering problems. (WK2 and WK6)
- PO6: The Engineer and The World: Analyze and evaluate societal and environmental aspects while solving complex engineering problems for its impact on sustainability with reference to economy, health, safety, legal framework, culture and environment. (WK1, WK5, and WK7).
- PO7: Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics, human values, diversity and inclusion; adhere to national & international laws. (WK9)
- PO8: Individual and Collaborative Team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse/multi-disciplinary teams.
- PO9: Communication: Communicate effectively and inclusively within the engineering community and society at large, such as being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations considering cultural, language, and learning differences
- PO10: Project Management and Finance: Apply knowledge and understanding of engineering management principles and economic decision-making and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, and to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.

Association Inauguration
The Departments of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science & Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning proudly organized the inaugural ceremony of their joint association "INTELLIGENTS" on 28th July 2025. This initiative marked a significant milestone in fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, innovation, and community building among students and faculty passionate about intelligent systems and emerging technologies. The event commenced with a warm welcome address, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the illumination of knowledge and wisdom. Distinguished guests, including Dr. A. Amalan Joseph Antony, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIITDM, Kancheepuram.
Guest Lecture
The Departments of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AI&DS) and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML) jointly organized a Guest Lecture on 14th August 2025, aimed at enhancing students' knowledge of emerging trends in Artificial Intelligence. The session was delivered by Mr. V. Vairavan, Professor, MSOE University, USA and Mr. S. Nargunam, Founder and Managing Director, Excel Die Castings, Thirumudivakkam, Chennai, who shared valuable insights on "Tools and Skills to Harness AI: A No-Code Approach" and "How to Become a Successful Entrepreneur", highlighting real-world applications, challenges, and future opportunities in the field.
Workshop on Ideas to Invention
The AI&DS department organized a successful "Workshop on ICT Training for School Teachers" on August 5, 2024. The workshop featured a keynote address by a distinguished guest from DIET, Trichy, who inspired participants with insights into innovation. The event was expertly coordinated by Dr. B. Kiran Bala, HoD-AI&DS/AIML, Mrs. V. Sankari, Assistant Professor and AHoD-AI&DS and Ms. R. Dhaaraani, AHoD-AI&DS.
Association Inauguration
The Association Inauguration event, held on August 16, 2024, aimed to formally launch the student associations of the AI & DS department. The event intended to foster a collaborative environment where students could actively participate in technical activities, workshops, and projects related to Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Machine Learning
Hands-On Session on Artificial Intelligence
A hands-on session on Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools was successfully conducted by the Departments of AI & DS and AIML, coordinated by Ms. R. Dhaaraani and Mr. M. K. Mohamed Faizal, for the second and third-year students of National College, Trichy. The event aimed to provide practical exposure to cutting-edge AI tools and techniques, enhancing the students' technical proficiency and fostering a deeper understanding of AI applications.
UpGrad Student Induction Program
The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science of K. Ramakrishnan College of Engineering, Trichy, conducted their UpGrad Students' Induction Program for first-year students on 17.10.24. Mr. Sachin Bantwal, Director of Customer Success, Mrs. Harini Thangaraj, an expert in customer success and growth, and Mr. Praveen Ramesh, Program Manager, served as the resource persons. Mr. Sachin Bantwal is a highly accomplished professional with over 18 years of an illustrious career spanning various industries and domains.
Workshop on Entrepreneurship and Innovation
An Entrepreneurship and Innovation workshop was successfully conducted by the Institution's Innovation Council and Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science and Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning on 23.01.25 and coordinated by Ms. R. Dhaaraani and Mr. M. Ponnivalavan, coordinators of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science – Institution's Innovation Council. This program aimed to provide a career opportunities and guidance for the students.
